Make iPods, not computers
09.15.03 (12:51 pm) [edit]I think Apple should go with it's core strength at this point -- iPods. They're just delaying the inevitable with their insistence on making workstations and laptops.
Holy shit! A Hurricane!
09.12.03 (11:27 am) [edit]Okay, I don't live in the southeast so my opinion on this matter isn't based on much. HOWEVER...
How the hell do Hurricanes make front page news EVERY. FREAKING. YEAR.
It shouldn't suprise people anymore when hurricanes hit. It's not like a comet just struk the earth or a huge rogue wave is about to take out San Francisco. We're talking about an annual season of storms, at least one of which always makes landfall and deposits a few fishing boats in someone's living room.
Front page news implies that the hurricane is somewhat of a surprise and implies, well, that it's even news.
That is all.
Celebrities Die!
09.12.03 (10:18 am) [edit]Honest to God, that was the headline on usatoday.com this morning regarding the unrelated deaths of Johnny Cash and John Ritter.
What a ridiculous headline.
That is all.
Get up, get get down. 9-1-1 is a joke in your town...
09.11.03 (5:51 pm) [edit]All I'll say on this, the anniversary of one of our nation's darker hours, is that I can't believe how little our lives have changed.
An optimist would call it resilience -- we are strong enough to resist change that is forced upon it.
A pessimist would call it ignorance -- we're too dumb to properly reflect on the event so we blissfully ignore it.
A realist would say that we're still reacting, and always will be.
Swatch Watch
09.09.03 (10:19 pm) [edit]I can't believe it. I found two old Swatches the other day from back in my grade school days. I can't imagine ever wearing them again, so that means one thing: eBay.
And people are bidding on them!
God bless eBay. Trash to cash, baby!
Love and Turkey Basters

arnold-2003.com
09.04.03 (12:01 pm) [edit]"Hasta La Vista, Davis"
"I've come for you Davis"
"The Govenator"
"Vote for me if you want to live"
Holy crap! This is hilarious. I think it's an embarrassment to politics in general and the CA governorship in particular...BUT...
CA is already a joke to most people. I think we should elect Arnold and that way, we'll bottom out as a state and can let the healing begin.
Wow.
US anti-abortionist faces execution

He says, "I believe the state, by executing me, will be making me a martyr."
You keep telling yourself that.
Heinz rises, tops estimates
09.03.03 (9:29 am) [edit]A headline on this in-the-elevator news system we have at work.
I knew Heinz was good on a lot of things...
peanuts and monkeys
09.02.03 (8:43 pm) [edit]The person who last had my cube left an interesting Post-It on the side of the computer monitor that I just noticed today.
It read: If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
Except for the minor point about monkeys not being known to have a fondness for peanuts, it's a pretty funny quote. The alternatives, "if you pay peanuts, you get elephants" or "if you pay bananas, you get monkeys" don't have the same ring to them.
newsgroups vs. blogging
09.01.03 (9:25 am) [edit]Every once in a while I visit some newsgroups -- primarily when I have a question that I want a committe to answer, or when I want a bunch of basement-dwellers to get into silly arguments based on asinine opinions or on bad grammar.
Then I was introduced to the world of blogging. Blogging seems to have the same amount of silly content mixed in with really good content (no comment on what category this particular blog is in), but it's much less confrontational than newsgroups.
What does everyone think about that?
